TODAY MALCOM X WOULD HAVE BEEN 80

As reported in DEMOCRACY NOW:

Today is Malcolm X's birthday. Had he lived, he would have been 73 years old. In his life and his work, Malcolm sought to redress the imbalances of America's racist legacy by re-formulating the political, economic, and historical place of African Americans. He sought to accomplish this in part by visiting Africa himself in an effort to find a new connection to the land.

(This is taken from a previously published book.)

I think Black have come a long ways since X & MLK, and with the new era we live in I think we have bigger things than race to fear. I've never been a racist, though I've had people act that way towards me - I just write 'em off, and strive to learn how not to behave.

Happy Birthday Mr. X

Brother Malcolm lives on in our hearts and actions. I do think he was born in 1925, however, thus he would have been 80, no?

BIOGRAPHY

Malcolm X was born Malcolm Little on May 19, 1925 in Omaha, Nebraska. His mother, Louise Norton Little, was a homemaker occupied with the family's eight children. His father, Earl Little, was an outspoken Baptist minister and avid supporter of Black Nationalist leader Marcus Garvey. Earl's civil rights activism prompted death threats from the white supremacist organization Black Legion, forcing the family to relocate twice before Malcolm's fourth birthday

And Malcom, like Dr. King, would be royally pissed if they were to come back and see the status of civil rights as it is now. Their legacy has been marred by those seeking to profit from their message and their cause has been relegated to back-room compromises and under-the-table payoffs.

They would NOT be happy.
